Man Utd plot Ronaldo escape plan

Next summer's major transfer saga may already have begun in earnest, with reports emerging this week that Cristiano Ronaldo is keen on a return to Manchester United.

The Red Devils are thought to reciprocate those feelings and could plot a move for the Portuguese, who has become dismayed at the Bernabeu by the decision to sell Angel Di Maria and Xabi Alonso.

Louis van Gaal hinted that he would jump at the chance to sign Ronaldo, just as he did when Radamel Falcao become available, but suspects Madrid will do everything possible to retain the Ballon d'Or winner.

“It’s always a discussion in the papers. I don’t think the media shall buy Ronaldo,” said the Dutch boss on Friday.

“When it is possible, it is what I have always said with Falcao, players like Ronaldo give a lot extra to selection, to the team, but I don't think Real Madrid shall sell him.”

Van Gaal scouts Shaw ahead of record-breaking deal

With his duties at Manchester United not set to start until after the World Cup, Louis van Gaal is wasting no time assessing his desired transfer targets while in charge of Netherlands.

Goal exclusively revealed on Tuesday that Luke Shaw has agreed a deal with £160,000 a week to leave Southampton, making him the highest-paid teenager in the world.

Despite reports of a training group bust-up between Arjen Robben and Bruno Martins Indi at the Netherlands' training camp, Van Gaal's focus appears to be elsewhere.

Moyes flop costs Manchester United £30m

The full extent of the financial cost of David Moyes's ill-fated spell in charge of Manchester United was revealed on Thursday.

Old Trafford executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, explained the club's seventh-place finish in the Premier League - their worst since 1989-90 - would see a staggering £30 million drop in income due to the lack of European football next season.

But it's not all bad news for United fans - Woodward also suggested an announcement regarding the appointment of a new manager, expected to be Louis van Gaal - would be made soon.

And plenty of transfer activity is also expected at Old Trafford over the summer.

Man Utd fans demand answers after woeful transfer window

Deadline day ended in farce for Manchester United as late bids for Ander Herrera, Sami Khedira and Fabio Coentrao all failed dismally.

The Premier League champions did manage to sign Marouane Fellaini, but in order to complete a late move ended up over-paying for the Belgian international.

Meanwhile, Mesut Ozil, a player many fans believe would be perfect for Old Trafford joined Arsenal leaving angry supporters of the Red Devils demanding answers from the men in charge of United.
